Every year a small team walks one of our National Trails carrying “George”, our dummy Soldier, on a stretcher. In 2018 we completed the 100 miles of the “South Downs Way” on Thursday 30th August. It was harder work than anticipated, the overall climbs on the route were almost 12,000 feet. (40% of Everest) so no easy feat; but we collected £946 en route so with sponsorship expect to raise over £2,500. Thanks to all our sponsors and those who donated for your support.
In 2019 our goal is to walk 184 miles of the Thames Path over 14 days starting on the 18th August
We intend to walk the South Bank as far as Tower Bridge, then cross the river and return back towards Westminster and finish by laying a Poppy Wreath at the “Iraq Memorial” on the Embankment near Westminster.
We can be sponsored by card payment or Paypal using the Donate button or by sending a cheque payable to the Lance Corporal Ben Hyde Memorial Trust to our contact address. We are grateful for any support you can give; thanks to the support we receive we can continue to help others in Ben’s name.
