Sponsored Walk 2018

South Downs Way Completed

We completed the 100 miles of the “South Downs Way” on Thursday 30th August. It was harder work than anticipated, the overall climbs on the route were almost 12,000 feet. (40% of Everest) so no easy feat; but we collected £946 en route so with sponsorship and text donations we expect to raise over £2,500.

Thanks to all our sponsors and those who donated cash or by text for your support.

The South Downs Way 19th August 2018

Every year a small team walks one of our National Trails carrying “George”, our dummy Soldier, on a stretcher. Last year we walked the 184 miles of The “Thames Path”, this year, we decided to have an easier time and walk the 100 miles of the South Downs Way. Although the Thames Path was almost, but not quite all flat. The South Downs Way promises to be anything but flat.

We will be setting out from Winchester on Sunday 19th August and hope to arrive at the end, in Eastbourne twelve days later. However we do hope to spend time in Winchester, where Ben completed his basic training, also Southwick Park, the present home of the Military Police Training School. As well as diverting via some of the costal resorts like Worthing and Brighton en route.

We can be sponsored up to £10 via text, should you wish to give more you can send a cheque, payable to the Lance Corporal Ben Hyde Memorial Trust to our contact address. We are grateful for any support you can give; thanks to the support we receive we can continue to help others in Ben’s name.
