On Thursday 28th August I compleated my walk along Hadrian’s Wall Path. Of the fund-raising walks I have done over the last 20 years, it was one of the shortest, but also one of the hardest, some of the climbs and descents were awsome.
The weather was kind to me and it was the only walk I have done where it did not rain, so I got well suntanned, particularly on myright side,( walking west to east the sun was always on my right )..
Good weather brings out the tourists so my fund-raising along the “Wall” was fairly successful, and I did find the people of Tyneside very generous. Even the driver of a “not in service” bus stopped to give me a donation, although some of the donations were more because of the three foot six inch Union Jack I was carrying, rather than the charity I was collecting for. People even donated at the bus stop while I was waiting for a bus back to my accommodation for the night.
My thanks to Noele and Irene Christon for their company for the three days over the Bank Holliday, having two cars made the logistics much easier, although the bus service along the route of Hadrian’s Wall path is excellent.
Thanks to the generousity of the people I met along rthe way I collected £518 and some pence in my bucket. With sponsorship the total raised will be just over £2,300 so a good result.
My thanks to all those who sponsored me and my thanks to all those who made a donation when I met them on the “Walk”, we are grateful to everyone for their support.
Once again our grateful thanks for your support.
Take care,
John
